McCracken County Youth Soccer

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Who can play? How old does my child have to be?
A. Children born between 2006-2016 are eligible to play for MCYSA.

Q. How much does it cost?
A. The cost is $65 for the first child with a $5 discount for each additional sibling. T-shirts are provided with registration. (Parents can also get shirts for $10)

Q. How do I pay?
A. The easiest way to register is on our website. All major credit cards are accepted. If paying by check please email registration@mccrackensoccer.com to make arrangements.

Q. When are practices?
A. Practices are set by the coaches of individual teams, not MCYSA. Please contact your coach for practice information. Typically teams practice once or twice a week.

Q. When does the season start? When does it end?

A. The Spring 2020 season will have their first games on April 18th and last games on May 30th. We added an extra gameday this season since that was a frequent request from parents in the past. We will also email info and post on Facebook. LIKE US HERE

Q. When will I know which team my child is on?
A. Registration closes on March 29th. We will form teams immediately after. You will get an email so make sure your email is current when you register.

Q. When will the schedule be out? What color is our team?
A. Before we can create schedules and assign teams, we need to know how many children are playing in each league. Thus, we can't create the schedule until registration is closed. Typically we do all of that in one week after registration closes before the schedule is created. Your coach will contact you with practice times and get your shirt to you before your first game.

Q. How many games are there? When/where are the games? What night will the games be on?
A. We try to have each team play 6-7 games (weather permitting) in each season: Most games are played on Saturday morning. We have added an extra weekend this season based on parent feedback. Games start at 9:00 a.m. All games are played at the MCYSA Soccer complex off of County Park Rd.

Q. What does my child need to play
A. Cleats, shorts, shin guards and a ball are requested. A team T-shirt will be provided.

Q. My child is older and has never played soccer before, should I be concerned?
A. No, our program is recreational. The focus is the development of your children. From small sided games to 'must play' rules to providing licensing programs for our coaches, our interest is in your child. We have many kids at all ages that come to MCYSA for the first time to play soccer.

Q. What is the game cancellation policy?
A. Games are played in all weather unless there is lightning, so please make sure your child is dressed appropriately. We will update Facebook if the fields are closed.

Q. Who can coach? Do I need previous experience?
A. All you need to be able to coach is some organizational skills and a willingness to help - no prior soccer experience is required. A coaches meeting is held at the beginning of each season to help you understand the basics of the game and provide some drills you can run with your team.

Q. How can I help?
A. Volunteers are the lifeblood of MCYSA. Our main needs are for coaches, field coordinators (to ensure fields are properly maintained), and concession workers. If you would like to help or know of someone that will help, please email the MCYSA Soccer Director.

Q. I don't know anything about soccer. Help me understand some of the terms!
A. Here is a good website with terminology for parents. CLICK HERE
